Pregnancy and High Blood Pressure Remedies

Treating high blood pressure directly:

Diffusing. Diffuse 5 drops of Lavender or Ylang Ylang oil, or add the drops to a warm water bath.

Inhalation. Add 1 drop each of Frankincense, Lavender, Clary Sage and Ylang Ylang* oils into a bowl containing steaming water. Cover your head with a soft towel and inhale for a minimum of 3 minutes before going to bed.

*Geranium and Bergamot can substitute for Ylang Ylang.



Treating effects of high blood pressure during pregnancy:

Sleep support:

Diffuse Lavender and Cedarwood, roll on Tranquil across chest and down spine.

Mix Lavender, Cedarwood and Valor with coconut oil and rub on bottoms of feet before bed.



Emotional support:

Apply Valor to feet and tops of shoulders for courage.

Diffuse Peace & Calming in the room for peace of mind.

Apply White Angelica to tops of shoulders and wrists for emotional balance.

Diffuse 5 drops of Lavender or Frankincense oil, massage 2 to 3 drops on the wrists, temples and bottoms of the feet to alleviate stress. You can also use pre-made blend Stress Away.

Add 5 drops of Ylang Ylang or Lavender oil to a warm bath, or diffuse 5 drops of Lavender or Orange to combat anxiety.



Physical support:

Taming Discomfort. Place a drop of Copaiba under your tongue.

Muscle and Back Pain. Apply PanAway to lower back and on sore or tight muscles.

Water Retention and Circulation. Blend Cypress, Lemon, Tangerine*, Lemongrass and fractionated coconut oil. Elevate legs above heart and massage legs and feet with the blend towards your heart to increase circulation. *Can substitute Citrus Fresh for Lemon and Tangerine.

Headache. Apply 2 to 3 drops of Lavender to the back of the neck and temples.

Fatigue. Diffuse 5 drops of Lemon or Orange oil, or inhale it directly from the bottle.

Swelling. Combine 2 drops of Lavender oil, 2 drops of Ginger oil and 1 teaspoon of a carrier oil (like fractionated coconut oil) and massage it onto the feet and legs.


Top oils to use:

Frankincense. Has sedative properties and promotes relaxation.

Lavender. Helps to reduce stress, which can be caused by high blood pressure.

Ylang Ylang. Known to improve blood flow and fight inflammation. Bergamot and Geranium and can used as substitutes.

Clary Sage. Relaxes the arteries and helps decrease your risk of heart problems. Clary sage should only be diffused or inhaled; do not apply directly to skin while pregnant.

Remember, when in doubt, diffuse. The safest way to use oils during pregnancy is to diffuse.
