Carrier oils are naturally derived from vegetarian sources and have a neutral smell. They aren’t volatile like essential oils, which makes them an excellent medium for dilution and application.

Depending on your needs and application, you have plenty of incredible options at your fingertips. Here's the lowdown below from yours truly. 

 

CARRIER OILS + DILUTION

 

Sensitive Skin - Almond oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil

Normal Skin - Jojoba oil, almond oil. coconut oil

Dry Skin - Avocado oil, olive oil, wheat germ oil

Acne-prone Skin - Argan oil, grapeseed oil, prickly pear oil, sunflower oil

Oily Skin - Grapeseed oil, hemp oil, argan oil

Combination Skin - Grapeseed oil, rosehip oil, apricot kernel oil

Mature Skin - Coconut oil, rosehip oil, tamanu oil

 

APPLICATION


Rollers — apricot or almond oils
Spray — blend witch hazel and filtered water
Massage — fractionated coconut oil (doesn’t stain)
Facial EOs — unrefined coconut oil, rosehip or argan

 

DILUTION RATIOS

Newborn to 6 months

.25% solution: dilute 1 drop of EO per 1.5 TB of carrier oil

OR 8 drops of carrier oil to 1 drop of EO, work towards 7:1 ratio

 

6 months to 2 years

.25% to .5% solution: dilute 1 drop of EO per 1 TB of carrier oil

 

2 years to 6 years

.5% solution: Dilute 1 drop of EO per 2 tsps of carrier oil

OR 3 drops carrier oil to 1 drop EO

 

6 years to 12 years

.5%-1% solution: Dilute 1 drop of EO per 1.5 tsps of carrier oil

OR 1 drop carrier oil to 1 drop EO

 

12 years and older

1% dilution: 1 drop to 1 tsp of carrier oil
